During the summer, Daventry Museum celebrated 50 years of Mr. Men and Little Miss with a display bursting with colour and familiar characters.
The famous series began with Mr Tickle in 1971 and was inspired by Roger Hargreaves’ son, Adam, who asked his dad what a tickle looked like!
Rare items on display included a beanbag chair from the mid 1970’s, a working Mr Bump radio from 1979, a Mr Tickle mirror from 1980 and two records with actor, Arthur Lowe narrating the stories. Enormous thanks to Clare Sherwood who loaned the museum her Mr. Men collection for display, and for her expert knowledge of all things Mr. Men.
The museum ran a Mr. Men drawing competition for the duration of the exhibition and received almost 40, fantastic entries.
Daventry Mayor Cllr. Karen Tweedale had the unenviable task of picking the winners from the three different age categories.
