Model of HMS Cockatrice. The actual ship was built in Paisley by Fleming & Ferguson Ltd during the Second World War. HMS Cockatrice, an Algerine Class minesweeper, swept Arctic waters and the English Channel for mines. In June 1944, HMS Cockatrice swept the sea off Gold Beach, a D-Day landing site. Daventry adopted HMS Cockatrice in March 1942.
