Offical Town Scales used by Clerk of the Market
A set of scales dating to 1796 made by DeGrave, London. Daventry Division refers to the Town's charter and the Baliff and Clerk of the Market having the responsibility of assessing market traders weights against these official weights. The King maintained standard weights and measures again which all others were assessed and copies made.
