Commemorative Plaque from adoption of H.M.S Cockatrice
A large wooden commemorative plaque in the shape of a sheild with gold painted crest of the ship H.M.S Cockatrice. The plaque was presented by the Lords Commisioners of the Admiralty to the Borough of Daventry to commemorate the adoption of the Cockatrice during Warship Week in 7th March 1942. A cockatrice is a mythical beast, somewhat like a dragon, with a cockerel's head and a serpent-like body and forked tail.
