Scientific apparatus in wooden box for measuring a chemical probably petrol. Science instrument. Made by De Grave, Short & Company, a copper cyclinder stamped 'Corporation of Daventry 1880'. Cylinder has a heating device underneath it and two inner parts for the chemical. De Grave, Short & Company of 59 St Martin le Grand, London exhibited at the 1851 and 1862 exhibitions. Scale Makers to her Majesty's Exchequer, Royal Mint, General Post office and Assay Office Goldsmiths Hall (damaged box)
