Botfield Collection from Borough Hill including antlers and pottery
Four pieces of red deer antlers (plus three on display) allegedly found at the Roman Villa on Borough Hill. Three pieces with head attachments and four points. Accompanied by degraded paper label saying "Horns of the red deer from the Roman Villa, Borough Hill. Botfield Exploration 1852. These were probably displayed on walls as trophies of the chase". Three pieces of pottery (possibly more), 2 blackened and mishaped, 1 pot rim. (Temp also contains 2 oyster shells and stones/pottery from B.Hill in white envelope).
