The Daventry May Day Crown (and hat box)
The Daventry May Day crown based on the royal state crown design, presented in a hat box and made by Councillor George Sharp in for a first use in May 1962. It was used annually during the May Day celebrations in the town. The crown was constructed using floristry materials including moss and wire. Yellow and red artificial flowers are attached to a gold fabric on a cross shape over the crown, which is a red velveteen fabric with white cotton wool trim around the brim.
