Cut Quarter Silver Denarius
A silver denarius coin a quarter cut suggesting it has been cut intentionally suggesting it's use changing from coin into bullion (used for its silver content). The obverse shows part of the phrase CAESAR AVGVSTVS DIVI F PATER PATRIAE, which means Caesar Augustus, son of a god (the Divine Julius Caesar), father of the country. On the reverse if the coin were complete Gaius and Lucius Caesars would be seen standing facing, each supporting a grounded shield with inner hand, spears resting against shields. The shields can be seen on this cut quarter coin.
