Over the last year the museum has put on a range of informative and engaging exhibitions including Daventry Calling – 90 Years On, marking the BBC in Daventry, Memories of World War Two which, commemorated 70 years since VE (Victory in Europe) Day, Daventry Businesses Past and Present, celebrating the businesses of Daventry, and Daventry in 100 Objects, featuring artefacts from the museum stores that have rarely been seen before.
In March the museum held a British Science Week Event which included a series of family friendly and hands on activities and attracted 114 visitors.
For a small, predominantly volunteer run museum we have triumphed not only in putting on successful exhibitions so far this year but also in developing children’s activities and have had numerous school and nursery visits.
The museum not only caters for schools and families but welcomes other community groups. This year we have facilitated group visits from Daventry MIND, Daventry Visually Impaired People’s Group and a local Cub Scouts Group.
The museum will be open for Daventry Arts Festival this Saturday 18th June from 10am to 4pm, alongside our exhibition Daventry in 100 Objects the museum will be displaying The East Midlands Embroiderers’ Guild textile exhibition, inspired by Capability Brown and marking the 300th anniversary of his birth.
Remember to vote for your favourite museum or historic house by 26th June, so why not pop in and see our wonderful range of exhibitions and vote for us! The winner will be announced at the Awards ceremony on 14th July at Bede House, Higham Ferrers.
Don’t forget, the museum is free to visit!
