For a short time only, we have on display the excavated artefacts of the B-17 Flying Fortress that hit the Air Ministry Gee Mast on Borough Hill on 15th December 1944. Nine American Airmen of the 305th Bomb Group lost their lives that day after returning from a bombing mission over Kassel Germany. There is a new memorial to the American Airmen on the site of the War Memorial on Abbey Street, Daventry, which was unveiled on Sunday 23rd August. As part of the remembrance, Sywell Aviation Museum have kindly loaned the artefacts to Daventry Museum which are on display from Tuesday 25th August to Thursday 17th September. The small display will also form part of the new World War 2 Exhibition which will open on Saturday 5th September 2015 from 10am to 4pm.
Remember our opening times are Tuesday to Friday, 9.30am to 1.30pm and the first Saturday of the month from 10am to 4pm.
