Daventry Museum will again be playing host to the interactive theatre company Don’t Go Into The Cellar and this time it will be for all our virtual visitors. This summer the theatre company will be recording and sharing their Victorian Fairy Tales performance exclusively with the museum to be viewed via this website and the Town Council’s YouTube channel!
Past audiences have enjoyed past performances immensely; so when April’s fully booked ‘Victorian Fairy Tales’ had to be cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the museum’s closure we got our heads together to create this exciting opportunity to view the performance online! Contact the museum by email to be added to the invitation list by end of July 2020 and the performance ‘go-live’ date will then be shared to those on the list.
On the run up to the performance at the beginning of August, there are teasers on our Facebook page, Twitter feed and Instagram account, giving virtual visitors clues to the tales being told by kindly Mother Goose. Can you guess them all?We have a drawing competition and prizes for the best Fairy Tale Scene 2020 poster. Get involved now – we would like to see you create a scene from a well-loved fairy tale given a modern twist, how would the characters look today, what would they be wearing? What they be doing and saying differently in their story? Let your imagination run wild! The competition is split into two age categories and is open to all those 12 and under. Entrants have the chance of their entries being shared via social media and on our website. To enter, send photographs of drawing/s to firstname.lastname@example.org (via an adult’s email address only please) along with the child’s name and age, by the closing date 21 August 2020, winner’s will be announced at the end of August.
